 VORTEX'S

A collection of fashion illustration from Orestis Lazoura. I think these pictures are really cool, kind of mood boardy and showing inspiration while not giving to much away showing snipets of colours and textures in a considered way. Creating psychedelic, almost kaleidoscope effects.

CRAZY SHEEP

Found this really strange video from digital artist Jonathan Monaghan of a lamb taking a weird trip...i'm not sure why or what it is, but it's rather intriging and i couldnt stop watching so i thought i'd share it.
Maybe a reflection of a state of mind of people following the crowd (just going on sheep conotations here... i'm not really sure at all) also has some cool visuals, kind of sci-fi/video gamey!

 Alexandra Valenti

I really like these photographs, layering two images together is a technique I really like and I love the layering of a photograph and a hand painted image in these photos, I think it's a simple way of adding some psychedelic vibes and energy into the photos. I also love how the photographs are taken in the outdoors; by the sea, on a farm, in the woods, next to a lake etc. I also like the floaty clothes and the sensual looking woman.
Earthy and psychadelic all wrapped up in one :)

FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

A scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, a movie made based on the novel written by Hunter S. Thompson, the book is autobiographical about a hazy drug fueled trip to Las Vegas.
I think this clip from the film is beautiful, Duke (played by Johnny Depp) recalls a time in his life that was special describes the rise and fall of the hippie movement in San Francisco during the 60's, this scene makes me feel very nostalgic.

I found this review of a Psy-trance party. Written by an outsider exploring the scene.

The whole article is him mocking and judging the people who go to these parties. The "nu-hippes".
But it gives a good insight to what goes on at these places, even if he did enter the party with a closed mind.

"As easy as it is to mock the trustafarians and eurotrash hostel-hoppers that frequent its events calendar, psytrance really is a counter-culture in the truest sense. The music is harsh, the clothes are weird, the drugs are strong, the best parties are illegal. This isn't a scene you can enter half-heartedly; nobody is having their birthday drinks at places like this – it's too intense, too esoteric for the casual partygoer. If there's an entry level version, this party was probably it and it was still one of the most confusing and unusual parties I've ever been to.
Psytrance deserves its place in our cultural landscape because it remains one of the few subcultures that trendy Stoke Newington dads just won't get. They might get Kendrick Lamar or Jam City, but they won't ever "get" Psycle Lane. It must have its lineage, but I'm fucked if I know what it is and it does feel like a weird animal that just showed up one day without anyone knowing where it came from – a totally different club beast that even people with Superclub loyalty cards probably can't hack."

RODARTE

Fall/Winter 2013

Mixed opinions on this collection; These are the only pieces I like, and that's only because of the tie dye! But i hate the mix of tie-dye with the flower prints... also the dresses look like they're made 5 mins before the show - wrapped around and pinned - not digging it

Cool tie-dye though!

Photos were taken from here.
 A Glowing Response
Editorial Photos for Vogue Hommes Japan by Richard Burbridge, again styled by Robbie Spencer

I LOVE these photos! I'm inspired by these to do my own shoot using simple UV effects. It reminds me of the visual effects of a Psy Rave!

 SALAD DAYS

Strange collection of photographs from Richard Burbridge styled by Robbie Spencer

I'm not sure if I like these photos, i prefer photos with a background and setting or situation but something about them draws me in, they're kind of weird...

Mary Katrantzou Autumn / Winter 2013

Here are a few pieces from this collection that I actually like, I really like the nature/landscape inspired prints and the colours on these dresses, however the rest of the collection doesn't thrill me at all.

The Everlasting Soul

Sølve Sundsbø photographed this editorial spread for Vogue China staring model Edita Vilkeviciute, styled by Nicoletta Santoro  featuring key pieces from Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Yohji Yamamoto.
I really like these photographs, i think the blurred movement of fabric in the backgrounds creates a nice effect and it reminds me of light trails from poi spinners at raves!
